Gyeonggi Gwangmyeong-si Chapter Held the 2022 Peace Consensus Unification Golden Bell Contest Entitled “We are One”

The Gwangmyeong-si Chapter (headed by Lee Yeong-hui) held ‘2022 Peace Consensus Unification Golden Bell Online Contest entitled “We are One”’ as part of the 2nd Peace Consensus Special Week on September 24 (Sat) at the Soharang Gymnasium of Gwangmyeong Soha Middle School. 

The opening ceremony was moderated by Ju Min-ho, secretary of the chapter and the quiz contest was emceed by announcer Choi Hyeon-kyeong and comedian Lee Ji-seong. The day’s event proceeded in the order of: (1) Congratulatory remarks, (2) Guide on how the contest will proceed, (3) Opening remarks by the chapter head Lee Yeong-hui, (4) Congratulatory remarks by Park Seung-won, mayor of Gwangmyeong, (5) Congratulatory remarks by An Seong-hwan, chairperson of Gwangmyeong City Council, (6) Congratulatory remarks by Rep. Lim O-kyeong (Gwangmyeong A), (7) Congratulatory remarks by Rep. Yang Ki-dae (Gwangmyeong B), (7) A 25-question quiz (OX quiz, multiple choice questions and subjective test questions), (8) An improvised on-site event, (9) Gwangmyeong municipal government related quiz event, (10) Awards ceremony.

In her opening remarks, the chapter head Lee Yeong-hui said, "We hope that through the 2022 Peace Consensus Unification Golden Bell Contest entitled “We are One,” citizens can form a consensus on peace, think about a correct view of history, solidify their will for unification, and have a time of harmony and communication between family members."

Park Seung-won, mayor of Gwangmyeong, delivered a congratulatory speech, saying, “I hope that the citizens who participated in today’s event will have time to grow into citizens who contribute to the realization of Korean unification and form a consensus for peace through the Unification Golden Bell Contest.”

An Seong-hwan, chairperson of Gwangmyeong City Council said in his congratulatory speech, “I hope that the participants will make a happy and enjoyable Golden Bell Contest by showing friendship to one another and playing fair throughout the contest.”

The annual Unification Golden Bell Contest was held offline this year. A total of 100 people belonging to 35 family teams participated in the event. This event was a precious time for participants to create pleasant memories while dealing with history and unification topics among their family members.

Among the 35 teams, the grand prize was awarded to sisters Kim xxx-kyeong and Kim xxx-ran. They thanked on the Gwangmyeong City website for the opportunity to participate in the contest. They said that they were honored to receive the grand prize, adding that while preparing for the competition, they had invaluable time to study the country’s history and inter-Korean issues while reflecting on the importance of unification.
