Nice to meet you, members of the Peaceful Unification Advisory Council and staff of the Secretariat.

I have both expectation and heavy sense of responsibility as I set out on a new start as the Executive Vice-Chair of the Peaceful Unification Advisory Council.

First of all, I would like to thank former Executive Vice-Chair Jeong Se Hyun for his dedication to change and innovation of the PUAC over the past two years. I hope he would continue to be with the PUAC in the future.

I am well aware that despite the difficult situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the PUAC has been setting an example for new kind of peace and unification activities that can be done with the people and playing a big role in peace public diplomacy.

In the not too distant future, we will face a post-COVID-19 era. There will also be new opportunities and challenges on the road to peace and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula. The 20th PUAC must prepare and lead the changes.

In order to overcome the national division and prepare for the two Koreas’ coexistence, permanent peace, and eventual unification, the PUAC should stand on the forefront and ensure peace on the Korean Peninsula along with the people and the international community.

There is a famous saying of Kant that says, "Let justice be done though the heavens fall." It's my own motto. We must protect peace even if the heavens falls. We must gather wisdom and make ceaseless efforts for peace on the Korean Peninsula.

Lastly, I would like to ask the secretariat staff. Please do your best as you have done so far to support the activities of the 20,000 council members at home and abroad.

Let us make unshakable, sustainable peace on the Korean Peninsula together.
Thank you.
