2021 Inje Peace Plan Citizens’ Dialogue

The Inje County Chapter (Head Jeon Hyun Jin) of the National Unification Advisory Council held the “2021 Inje Peace Plan Citizens’ Dialogue” at the Grand Ballroom of Inje Speedium Hotel on July 2. The Citizens’ Dialogue was designed to find peace tasks citizens can experience in their daily lives and to come up with a peace plan that suits Inje. There were two Preparatory Committees meetings and a Working-level Committee meeting to gather opinions on the peace agenda and peace plans that can be implemented on a short-term and long-term basis. The detailed Inje Peace Plan was worked out through the Citizens’ Dialogue in which citizens, members of civic groups and NUAC members participated.

Chapter Head Jeon Hyun Jin said, "Inje on which the 38th parallel was drawn and which keeps traces of national division here and there is being transformed into a land of peace and life. I hope today's Inje Peace Plan Citizens’ Dialogue will mark the beginning of the end of the war and peace."

In a keynote presentation, Park Soo Hong, president of the U.N. Regional Center of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development, and Jeong Bum Jin, vice chairperson of the Korea DMZ Peace-Life Valley, talked about the peaceful value of Inje and proposed the peace agenda.

Discussions on the implementation plan of the Inje Peace Plan were held under the moderation of the facilitator of each table. After the discussions, participants shared the implementation plans of the Peace Plan and selected the Inje Peace Agenda in an “empathy vote.”

In the vote, △ Inje County Youth Peace Volunteer Group (55.15%) received the most empathy ballots, followed by △ Inje County Peace Road Construction (53.1%), △ Organization and Operation of Inje County Peace Volunteer Group (46.9%), and △ Inje County History of 1945-1954 (46.9%).
