Special Screening of the Birth of Korea for North Korean Defectors

The PUAC Cheonan-si Chapter (Head Ahn Sang-guk) held a special screening of "The Birth of Korea” documentary at Lotte Cinema Cheonan Buldang theater on February 29 (Thursday). It drew about 100 people, including North Korean defectors and PUAC council members. 

The event was held to spread consensus and awareness of the peaceful reunification of the Korean Peninsula through cultural experiences and communication between North Korean defectors and PUAC council members.

Chapter Head Ahn Sang-guk said, “The PUAC is endeavoring to get along with North Korean defectors, form a consensus, and enhance their capacity to prepare for reunification." "I hope that today's viewing of 'The Birth of Korea' will serve as an opportunity to reflect on President Syngman Rhee and the first-generation founding fathers who worked to build and protect the Republic of Korea."

North Korean defectors had a meaningful time communicating with the PUAC council members while raising awareness of the history of the Korean Peninsula.

The Cheonan-si Chapter will carry out more programs to create an inclusive social climate for North Korean defectors by raising community understanding and interest in North Korean defectors and spreading positive perception.
