Southern Southeast Asian Chapter Hosts March 1st Day Event in Indonesia;

Speech Event for Descendants of Independence Patriots Comes to Successful Close

An event marking the 106th anniversary of the March 1st Day that commemorates the independence of the Republic of Korea was held at the Korean Embassy in Indonesia on March 1, 2025. The event brought together nine key figures, including Chapter Head Lee Se-ho.

PUAC member Choi Tae-rip delivered a speech as a descendant of independence patriots. His message honoring the sacrifices and dedication of independence activists touched the hearts of the participants. "It is our responsibility to not forget the value of independence that our ancestors sacrificed their lives to protect, and inherit it as descendants," Choi said in the speech. "We must continue to cherish the will of those who have devoted themselves to freedom and peace of the Republic of Korea." Participants agreed with Choi's speech, and pledged to work for the development of the Republic of Korea and the unity of the Korean community.

All participants, including Chapter Head Lee Se-ho, reflected on the meaning of the March 1st Independence Movement Day in various programs, such as waving Korean flags, reading the Declaration of Independence, and paying a silent tribute in honor of patriotic martyrs. The event was also said to have strengthened the unity of the Korean community and friendly cooperation between South Korea and Indonesia.

An official at the Southern Southeast Asian Chapter which hosted the event said, "We will continue to promote Korea's independence spirit and strengthen the solidarity of the Korean community by observing historical anniversaries such as the March 1st Day."

The ceremony commemorating the March 1st Independence Movement gave a valuable time for Koreans working in Korea and Indonesia to reflect on the history of their homeland and the value of the independence movement. It is expected that efforts will continue to be made to promote friendship between the two countries.
