Korea K-Culture Stage for the Realization of Peaceful Unification and Aspirations

The Atlanta Chapter (Head Oh Young-rok) hosted an event for experiencing Korean culture, including the traditional games featured in the Squid Game which is gaining global popularity, at the cafeteria of the Peachtree Bridge High School on Feb. 23, 2025. Starting at 3 o'clock, visitors, mostly families, enjoyed four games (jegichagi, ttakjichigi, biseokchigi, gongginori) in each booth. Those who completed a game received a stamp on stickers, which allowed them to receive rice cake gifts (white rice cakes mean South Korea and ssuktteok means North Korea). The elderly particularly had a pleasant time to enjoy games with their grandchildren, which gave them time to recall their own childhood.

The chapter held a photo exhibition featuring North Korea's difficult situation, drawing public attention to North Korea's human rights issues. It also gave visitors opportunity to experience K-culture by operating a booth where Korean calligraphy was written on the fan free of charge and a booth where they can taste Korean traditional K-Food.

At the Taekwondo demonstration event that followed the K-culture experiencing events, Chapter Head Oh Young-rok announced the beginning of the event in a speech. The day’s event culminated with the performance of the taekwondo demonstration team, a youth group composed of students from various ethnicities. The event turned out to be a grand K-culture festival where many local people and Korean residents of various ages participated to enjoy games and experience together with PUAC council members and volunteers.
